Judging for the competition takes around a year, starting with individual nominations from CAMRA members and tasting panel nominations, leading to a series of rigorous regional heats adhering to a strict blind tasting policy.
Brewery experience days consist of an 8-hour day spent working with the head brewer, going through all aspects of the brewing process in a hands-on environment. Participants on the day will be helping the brewer with the brew itself as well as getting teas or coffees in the morning, a half pint of all the B&K beers available (8 half pints total) throughout the day, Breakfast after mashing in (Bacon sandwich as standard but vegetarian options available), Lunch during the boil (8 meal options including burgers etc. with vegetarian/vegan options available), a pint of any of the B&K beers at the end of the brew day and a 5L Mini-keg to take home (can either be pre-prepared keg available at the time or can be a mini keg of the particular gyle brewed on the day, to be picked up by the customer at a later date)
