Building on last year’s return to the Stockport Guildhall, Stockport Beer & Cider Festival 2024 returns with a greater range of facilities, beers and ciders and a new charity to support, plus a range of musical artists performing in a dedicated room. We have taken what worked last year and augmented where possible. We have reviewed what could be improved and taken steps to deliver an enhanced experience for our visitors, members and volunteers. The bars will be stocked with over 200 different beers, cider and perry. The popular outdoors area will have a larger gazebo with even more tables and chairs. We listened to the request for more seating and this will be provided in proximity to all the bars. There will be three beer bars with local and more distant breweries represented. The ever-popular Bar Nouveau will naturally be included with beers from the winners of our 7th annual Home Brew competition - started in 2015, interrupted by Covid but still popular with home brewers and drinkers. A selection of Greater Manchester Region micro brewers will be producing the winning range of beers. Cider enthusiasts are not forgotten with an extensive range of ciders and perries, hosted by our knowledgeable volunteers. A first for SB&CF, we can announce that a small bar supported by the Runaway Brewery will be serving real beer dispensed from Key Keg. Those who enjoy finding new and unusual beers can satisfy their thirst for knowledge with a chilled beer at the dedicated Bottle Bar with mine host John Clarke in charge. We cannot predict what the weather will be like so far ahead but equipment to cool each bar area will be in place to ensure a cooler festival. The Guildhall is a great venue for a beer festival especially for visitors with disabilities: the wheelchair ramp and lift to the upper floor provides access to all areas. Don’t forget if you would like to be part of the festival as a volunteer, training and support is on hand and as a thank you, we provide several benefits: free food, complimentary beer, taxi home for those finishing late, bottles of beer to take home and a friendly environment. You can complete an online volunteers form here: https://www.stockportfestival.org.uk/volunteer Alternatively, you can email for a paper-based form through the branch secretary at secretary@ssm.camra.org.uk
