Attractive rural pub with a restaurant, well-kept gardens and accommodation. It has a good reputation for food, with hot and cold food served in both the bar and restaurant. The accommodation is ideal for that quiet weekend hideaway. The owners also run the Birch just outside Woburn on similar lines. The small hamlet is named after the Irish navvies who built the now dismantled railway nearby.
The ales on sale vary from visit to visit, always 2 or 3; recent visit, Vale Brewery Brill Gold and St Austell Tribute.
