A favourite first or last stop for those coming and going to York Railway Station, The Maltings is a self-described ‘pub for grown-ups’ that offers visitors character and atmosphere in generous measures. Long term landlord Shaun Collinge presides over a cellar that presents customers a choice from seven real ales and four traditional ciders at any one time. Shaun is renowned for storing rare treats for months and sometimes years ready to be tapped when you least expect, so each visit brims with excitement in anticipation for what guest ales will greet you. For those who understandably pop in for one and feel the urge to stay all afternoon, sustenance can be found from Dragon’s Pantry which serves up a great selection of proper grub. York Cider Pub of the Year 2023.
