This interesting old low-beamed pub is just off Market Place on the town's one-way system. It claims a history as far back as 1214 and is a warren of nooks and crannies, all decorated in mock half-timbered style to give a rustic feel, with an impressive fireplace and stove in the main bar. Used to offer real ales sourced mostly from Yorkshire breweries, but after a recent change in ownership national beers seem to be making inroads. However, does occasional tap-takeovers, so worth checking.
This Pub serves 5 changing beers and 0 regular beers.
