Reopened in 2010 after 18 months of closure, this attractive low-ceiling thatched pub has been lovingly restored. To the left of the entrance is the well-beamed Farmyard Bar with tiled floor, two brick fireplaces and stools at a brick built bar counter with tiled "roof". The stable yard bar to the right has bare board floors and a more contemporary feel - a large restaurant area lies beyond. A private dining room - the Gun Room - seats 12. The menu changes daily depending on what is freshest and best quality at the time. The Blackbirds changed hands in early 2015 but retained its balance between village pub and restaurant. The beers are often from smaller regional breweries.
May not open Monday and Tuesday during colder months.
The Blackbirds was closed again for a year (reopening in March 2017). An accommodation block later added to the rear.
On 2nd March 2018 a serious fire did a great deal of damage to the pub. The pub then underwent a reconstruction finally reopening in mid-March 2020.
