Named after the town's Tudor benefactor who is recognised with a carved wooden pulpit by the entrance. Offers a good mix of guest beers, many from local microbreweries. Economical food offerings are available. As well as extensive seating areas upstairs and down, there is a spacious rooftop garden, and a smaller beer garden downstairs to the rear. Constructed in 1931, its initial occupancy was as a builders' merchants and joinery works.
