The area is called "Wrenthorpe alias Pot Ovens" on an 1822 map -some 40 years after the last potters left the locality; pub built as Malt Shovel 1860s rebuilt 1899, called the Pot 'Oil from 1970s to 1988, then The Potovens until 1991. Blue Plaque commemorates local pottery industry.
