In 1830, the pub, then known as the Boars Head Inn, was owned by Sir John Delves Broughton, of Broughton Hall in north Staffordshire. The pub was sold in January 1921 to a Mr. John William Brooksbank. Subsequently was owned by the Shrewsbury and Wem Brewery and after that, Greenall Whitely. In 1990, Greenall Whitley stopped brewing.
New owners since November 2015, Parogon Pub Company, based in Newcastle under Lyme, have extensively refurbished the pub internally and externally, and modernised the existing extension. It reopened on Monday 14th August 2017 with four handpumps for beers, plus a very intersting range of gins from small distilleries.
Large bar area for those just wanting a drink. Four distinct dining areas lead off from the bar. Attractive paved drinking area outside partly under cover.
This Pub serves 1 changing beer and 2 regular beers.
