A cosy and rambling pub. There are 2 separate bars with separate entrances at the front. The main bar on the right is connected with a conservatory through a low arch. Good quality food is served on this side. Dogs allowed in the left hand snug bar and patio only.
Accommodation in a separate block at the rear of the pub, attached to the outside loos. There is a massive car park.
A seasonal Arkells beer may be available in holiday periods.
Historic Interest
Converted to a pub in 1855 when another nearby pub closed. It was owned by the Freke family and named in honour of Captain Willes Johnson who married into the family. In 1922 it was purchased by Arkells and remains in their estate to this day.
