Closed, hopefully temporarily.
One of the few remaining traditional locals left in the city centre, with musical song sheets decorating one of the walls. Tucked behind the Belgrade Theatre, it is frequented by actors and can become very busy during intervals and after shows. The bar and lounge are supplemented by the 'Donkey Box', a small snug at the front which is just big enough to hold a donkey.
Food has been discontinued as of June 2024.
No children are permitted in this pub.

The must-see here is the 'Donkey Box', one of the country's smallest snugs, measuring just six feet square It has a bare wood floor, a couple of tables, some panelled walls and a small counter. The record number of customers squeezed in is 30. In the public bar, most of the fittings seem to be recent other than the 'Bar' window in the rear door. The smoke room on the right, which was extended around 2000, still has a hatch with a copper top plus some old seating.
This Pub serves 2 changing beers and 4 regular beers.
