An impressive Victorian pub, which was originally a Watney's house, rebuilt in its current form in 1897. Many incarnations later, and after some redevelopment of premises above during which the venue was closed, re-opened on Friday 9th October 2020. New front fascia signage says Bar & Bistro. Bare-boarded throughout with a step up to the bar counter. Keen prices on food and keg beers.
Subsequently closed again.
Major building works converted the upstairs for multiple residential.
The venue re-opened in November 2023 advertised as a Vietnamese restaurant.
It is not yet known if it remains as a pub with the possibility of drinking without the need to buy a meal.
