Ex Lacons and Whitbread pub, it was once the tram terminus in the town centre. Large well appointed multi-roomed pub with plenty of comfortable seating. Separate games room with two pool tables. Large enclosed rear garden with seating and slides etc. Now open under the Craft Union badged 'Free House' model. Smart new interior and welcoming staff.
Historic Interest
Opened as a Beerhouse in 1865 known as The Gate, which the pub name has now reverted back to. The garden was formerly a bowling green.
This Pub serves 1 changing beer and 1 regular beer.
