The pub consists of a number of individual rooms. The original structure has survived so that the rooms and 'snugs' are completely separate. Provides a range of activities on most days: Bingo in the week; Karaoke and sticky 13s on Sunday; Poker first Sunday every month.

Historic Interest

Mid-20th century estate pub, formerly a Home Ales house, built on the site of former cowsheds (http://www.stmartinshiddentreasures.org.uk).

"The Rose, Strelley Road, on the corner with Moor Road, Wyrale Drive to rear, opened 25 April 1958, replacing a pub of the same name in Mill Street, Basford, which was demolished for road widening.
C/PS/B 52/22: Nicely drawn and presented plans by Cecil Howitt and Partners, of February 1956, for a new hotel at Strelley, for the Home Brewery Co., though in fact it is on Strelley Road, Bilborough, for the new estate. It is raised imposingly on a steep slope above the road, and its graded Westmorland slate roofs make it still taller and more imposing as the focus of an extension to the old village.
There are three doors. The largest to the left leads to a hall with a recess (and small bar) and thence to a lounge with stage on which is an electric fire. The middle smoke room projects out with bay; to east he public bar with built-in seats marked, coal fire. Separate lavatories to the lounge and public areas, the latter larger for both men and women. The off sales entered to the right of the smoke room. The service area most closely resembles a letter 4, where the top part embraces case store wines (next to lounge) with porch providing service to the rear garden at its apex, next to the house entrance. The bottom of the ‘4’ is the smoke room and off-sales. There is a basement beer cellar, and the original scheme included an outbuilding with a garden shelter and garage across yard to east. There is a steep front lawn with shrubs supported on a high retaining wall with round ends, and these survive (where I stood to take the photos). 97/02003/PFUL3: Application by St Pauls Design for Scottish and Newcastle March 1997, for a small addition to NW elevation enlarging the rear lounge, and enlarging the kitchen by incorporating a passage and part of the bottle store behind. This was carried out, and is carefully in keeping, even including the roof." [Elain Harwood / Historic England].
