There has been a hostelry on the site since the 11th Century. The hotel is famous for King John holding court on several occasions. In more recent times it became one of the great coaching Inns on the Great North Road. The main hotel bar has 2 handpumps. The beers on the bar are predominantly from LocAle brewer Brewster's.
Historic Interest
Reputedly England's oldest Inn the old Angel Inn has been offering fine hospitality since 1203. The Royal part of the name was added in 1866 after a visit from the Prince of Wales, later Edward VII.
