This pretty, ancient building on the edge of Lymington's salt marshes is handy for the nearby nature reserve and bracing coastal walks. The chequers sign memorializes the financial transactions of Lymington's defunct salt industry, whose exchequer offices were nearby. The open-plan interior, with exposed beams, log fire and dining area, is comfortable and relaxing. Outside are a large patio with a bar (summer only), and an attractive walled garden. The menu, from bar snacks to full restaurant meals, including fish and more exotic fare, is served all day.
