This Pub is Permanently Closed
Large and comfortable roadside inn with good facilities for children, including a bouncy castle in the garden. Extensive 'Artists Fayre' menu. In 1997, it made the headlines with a visit by former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and his wife, Raisa, when their flight home to Russia was delayed.
In 1999 local residents, with help from the local CAMRA branch, took on McDonalds to defeat a plan to turn the pub into a fast-food outlet. However, the jubilation was short lived when the pub was demolished for housing instead.
