At the eastern edge of the city centre, near High Street station, this pub, restaurant and hotel has a well-earned reputation for good beer, wine and food. Three cask beers are sold, usually from Scottish breweries. The downstairs bar generally has a low-key ambience, however, there is lively traditional music on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons and gypsy jazz on the second Sunday of the month. The pub has a fair-sized beer garden for the odd sunny day.
