An attractive country free house situated in the centre of this picturesque village, so popular with walkers, cyclists and visitors to the South Downs National Park. Much of this cosy traditional pub caters for diners, but drinkers are most welcome in the large bar area. There are log fires in winter and a pretty garden with tables at the rear for summer, with the River Ems flowing behind it. There is often four handpumps in use featuring two from Harvey's including one dark beer. The skittle alley can also double as a function room. Often busy at lunchtimes. May stay open later than stated if busy or in summer.
