A lively free house set on a raised terrace just across from the River Itchen from Wolvesey Castle and Palace. A central rustic wooden bar, with small barrels above and a mini traffic light to indicate last orders, serves a variety of eclectically decorated wood beamed rooms. There is more bric-a-brac than the eye can take in at one visit including many surprising stuffed animals, vintage meters, fire buckets, body parts, old signs and an Aga. Outside is a large raised patio area with plenty of covered seating. 10 double, en-suite bed and breakfast rooms are available at the co-owned 'Black Hole' next door.
Outside catering vans visit Tuesday-Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoon: pizza Thu & Fri; tacos Tue, Wed, Sat & Sun.
