Everards sold the pub to Mitchells & Butlers in 2011 and it is now one of their 'Sizzling Pubs' chain. The large modern interior is L-shaped, with the main entrance at the corner. Value meals are available, but drinkers are also welcome. A patio area outside the main entrance is furnished with picnic tables, and there is another patio at the rear.
Historic Interest
Designed by Leicester architects Pick, Everard, Keay & Gimson for Everard's Brewery and built 1938-1939. It had a relatively unaltered interior with a revolving door at the corner until about 1995, when the interior was completely remodelled and knocked-together. Note the original decorative roundels around the elevations, depicting various 'blackbird' scenes.

The Champion Beer of Britain is one of the most prestigious beer competitions in the world. It is the ultimate honour for UK brewers and has helped put many into the national spotlight.
Judging for the competition takes around a year, starting with individual nominations from CAMRA members and tasting panel nominations, leading to a series of rigorous regional heats adhering to a strict blind tasting policy.
