Located just off the fine Victorian Royal Crescent Hotel complex, the bar's name celebrates John Paul Jones, father of the American Navy. His ship, the Bonhomme Richard, was involved in a battle off nearby Flamborough Head during the War of Independence in September 1779. Up to four hand pumps dispense ale in summer reducing to two in winter. A quiz is held on Saturday afternoon each week at 4pm. Live music on Sunday afternoon from 4pm. Formally a local CAMRA Rural Winner & Runner-up Pub of the Year.
