After a further change of licensee in May 2024, the Border Rose has now returned to opening during the afternoons, with food served Wednesday to Sunday, and is conveniently located for visitors to Gordon Rigg's garden centre.
A stone-built pub once typical of the area, it was originally a Tetley tied house called the Butcher's Arms. The current name was adopted when it became a free house some thirty years ago, and reflects its location close to the historic boundary with Lancashire. Although partially opened out, the interior retains a traditional feel.
