Historic Interest

Calverton Colliery closed in 1999 despite coal reserves of some 25 to 30 million tonnes. The miner's welfare is now operated by the Calverton Miners Welfare Social Club Limited (Reg. No. 02699705), a private company limited by guarantee without share capital which was incorporated on the 24th March 1992.
