Overlooking the River Teme and the Ludford Bridge, the Charlton Arms is a modern comfortable pub with a good restaurant and en-suite accommodation. Formerly known as the Red Lion and home of the defunct Ludford Brewery, this independently owned pub offers a good range of local beers. The cosy bar has a big fire in the middle with a couple of nooks for quiet drinking if you do not wish to follow the Sky news on the TV on the bar. There are several pleasant outdoor drinking areas overlooking the river, but in particular, try the upstairs terrace. The views of the town, river, bridge and surrounding hills are a delight. Live music is often available and the pub plays an active part in community life. In January 2014 Cedric and Amy Bosi, of the renowned family of resaturanteurs, took on the lease at the Charlton. a Good Beer Guide regular, it has been in most of the editions since 2000.
