Theatre Bar
Historic bar in the City Varieties theatre. Only open during performances.
Infrequently used (and spared from the type of refurbishment work that has altered the theatreâs much bigger Circle Bar) the Stalls Bar is a little feast of Art Deco styling, with low curving seating bays, flush panelled walls, Formica-topped surfaces, jazzy etched mirror and jaunty-angled bar-counter. It is thought more likely to date from the early 1950s, when the whole theatre was extensively revamped, than from between the Wars.
