No cask ale. A former commercial premises converted into a pub by McManus Taverns and then sold onto the Mansfield Brewery. It is now owned & operated by Marston's. The bar area is elongated running the length of the building. The décor is aged wood panelling. The pub is quiet during the week but metamorphoses into a very lively bar with a loud disco on Friday & Saturday nights.

Judging for the competition takes around a year, starting with individual nominations from CAMRA members and tasting panel nominations, leading to a series of rigorous regional heats adhering to a strict blind tasting policy.
