Good Beer Guide

Fishertown Inn, Cromarty

Improve This Listing

Early in 2022, The Cromarty Arms changed hands and re-opened as The Fishertown Inn on 5th August 2022 after an extensive refurbishment.

Now offering up to three hand pumps and keg beers from Cromarty Brewery, just over 3 miles away.

Other than the comfy seating, there is a beer garden outside at the back, and some tabling outside on the street, although there is very little passing traffic.

Approaching Cromarty, to the North, you can not help but notice the oil rigs in the Cromarty Firth which are either moored up and mothballed awaiting redeployment or undergoing maintenance. You may even witness one or more of the cruise liners that visit Invergordon, with their passengers bussed off to the many tourist hotspots in the Highlands, including the opportunity to spot "Nessie".

In Cromarty, just opposite, is the Cromarty Museum and Hugh Miller's Cottage, birthplace of the 19th Century stonemason and geologist Hugh Miller.

Note the "crow stepped gable" an architectural feature of many of the houses in Cromarty.

Seasonally the small, and very busy 2 car, 12 passenger ferry will take you over the mouth of the Cromarty Firth to Nigg in 15 minutes, departing every 30 minutes. Also in Cromarty is Ecoventures which offers boat trips on a RIB to see the local wildlife, including the ubiquitous pod of Cromarty dolphins.
