Splendid former coaching inn on a street largely given over to trendy bars and restaurants. Grade II listed, the pub features heavy beams and some exposed timber framing. In 1705 it was the birthplace of the Staffordshire regiment, and now pays tribute to regiment soldiers lost in service. Live music, shanty singing evenings, and other events feature. Monday sees cask ale at lowered prices.
