Langdale's Lanty Slee Liquor Co. have bars in Great Langdale at the Stickle Barn and here, at the Wayside Pulpit on Elterwater Common. This is a single-storey stone and slate building located next to Elterwater Common, and as the name suggests, was originally built as a church, just a short distance from the car parking area at the edge of the common.
It is known as the ‘Saloon Bar’, paying tribute to Lanty Slee, a local man who dealt in illicit liquor in the 19th century and showcases the company's range of spirits. Non-alcohol drinks are also served throughout the day alongside tapas and sharing plates. There is a range of alcoholic drinks available including local bottle-conditioned real ales but no cask ales are served at present.
