Opened in May 2014, this is an impressive conversion of the former Congregational Church, much extended, which had previously served as a nightclub. The character of the original church has been well maintained, and the extensions are modern, but tastefully sympathetic.
There are a number of drinking/eating areas, including an upstairs gallery. There is also an outdoor area where dogs and children are welcome, but smokers are restricted to a section by the front wall.
Although this is very much a food-led pub,the beers are very well kept, as one expects from Wetherspoon, with a good selection of local ales featuring among the guest beers; you're more likely to find the excellent Island Brewery RDA here than anywhere else locally. A cider is often available on handpump.
