Improve This Listing

A multi-roomed pub situated across the road from the 17th century Moot hall and seafront gardens, and close to the iconic fishermen's huts on the shingle beach. It's popular with locals and also tourists (including bikers, ramblers & bird spotters). Children aged 10 or over also welcome. Handy for refreshments after a stroll along the beach.

The food offer specialises in locally caught fish and other local produce.

Traditionally the landlord is a member of the lifeboat crew.

The pub was originally built in the 16th century but substantially reconstructed in the mid 19th. The pub underwent a major internal refurbishment in early 2012. The bar counter was relocated to the back of the building (where an old dining area used to be) and a new restaurant with sea views was fitted out in the former front bar area. Other new drinking areas have also been created.
