Probably an early 19th-century building, part of the original Thorpe Acre village, now surrounded by modern houses. The unusual look is due to a change in road layout that has resulted in the back of the pub adjoining the road. To the 'front' there are gardens and a children's play area. The pub is split-level, with the bar and front entrance lower than the lounge, which is accessed via steps leading from the road.
Recently reopened in September 2022.
