After a short closure, the Polished Knob reopened on 8th March, retaining its unique vibe and offering additional midweek opening hours with lunchtime meals available from Wednesday to Sunday.

This busy, friendly town centre pub opposite the market has a fine inter-war Masseys of Burnley facade, original tiled floors and staircase. Internally there has been a major refurbishment, with seating bays installed using leather car seats (designed for the original Mini, we believe) around tables, whilst a new bar was installed during lockdown. The remarkable collection of memorabilia around the walls heavily features Castleford Tigers RLFC.

Live bands play after 9pm at weekends, with a singer on Monday afternoons.
