The Red Lion is a carefully refurbished 18th century family-run hotel. The cosy, comfortable and welcoming bar overlooks the marketplace. It is popular owing to its consistently well-kept range of cask ales, which the bar staff take great pride in serving in top condition. It is a rare outlet for Bass in the locality. On fine sunny days the experience is enhanced with tables and chairs outside beneath attractive floral displays. A blue plaque depicts that Jimi Hendrix stayed at the pub on 29th May 1967 when he played at a nearby gig with Pink Floyd and Cream.
