Traditional 17th-century, Grade II-listed coaching inn entered via a narrow arch into a courtyard. The split-level interior has open fires, stone floors and low ceilings, and includes a small dining area with a polished wood floor. Good quality, interesting food is cooked to order, with the menu changing weekly with regular theme menus. Outside is a long secluded riverside garden. Annual beer festival.
Branch Pub of the Year 2022. The attached Soar microbrewery commenced production in May 2022.
