An 18th century ironstone pub in an exposed position overlooking the valley, and across the road from Lamport Hall. It is well-kept with an emphasis on food. Consisting off four rooms with polished wooden floors and comfortable seating and a real fire to keep you warm in winter. Outside there is a large "secret" garden with views over the valley. Serves three ever changing local beers.

Judging for the competition takes around a year, starting with individual nominations from CAMRA members and tasting panel nominations, leading to a series of rigorous regional heats adhering to a strict blind tasting policy.
