Interesting town pub in a side street just off Bedale’s main street. Decorated in a ‘rustic’ style with bare stone and brick walls and wood floor, and opened out into three main drinking areas. There are usually two beers from the Jennings/Marston’s range. No meals at present (except breakfast for bed and breakfast customers). No car park, but there is extensive free parking fifty yards away on North End and Market Place (limited to 2 hours in daytime). Bedrooms have been recently renovated.

Since the end of May 2024 now run by the same licensees who run the nearby Green Dragon.
