After a major refurbishment, the Three Horseshoes re-opened in November 2015. There are two large rooms, mainly set aside for diners, which are comfortably furnished with contemporary decor. Large glass windows give the pub a light airy ambiance.

Historic Interest

Asset of Community Value registered on the 11th January 2016 (RBCACV017) and nominated by the Nottingham Branch of CAMRA (REf. ACV 013). This expired at the end of the 10th January 2021.

The Three Horseshoes was built in late Sixties for Home Brewery on the site of an earlier pub of the same name, which could be dated back to at least 1832 under the licensed victualler John Hardy (White's Directory). Apparently, the name derived from an even earlier use for the site as a smithy. Sadly, the refurbishment of 2015 destroyed a largely 1960's interior which CAMRA rated as being an Historic Interior of Some Regional Importance on its Regional Inventory. The opening-up of the pub has replaced the original three-room layout, which had a lobby and toilets area, leading onto a large Public Bar, whilst to the rear there was a Small Lounge to the centre left and a Large Lounge to the rear. The smaller lounge was known as the "Penny Lounge" because beer was originally a penny more here than in the Public Bar, whilst beer in the larger lounge was tuppence a pint more. The Public Bar had an original bar front and back and some original fixed seating, the Penny Lounge some original panelling, counter fronts and fixed seating, with a three part door through to the Large Lounge, which also had original panelling, counter fronts and a Tudor style fireplace, possibly from elsewhere. As a result of the 2015 refurbishment, the Three Horseshoes no longer has an historic interior and CAMRA has removed the Three Horseshoes from its Regional Inventory.

The architect was W.B.Starr, Clifford & Carman and the building was completed in January 1967 (Elain Harwood {Historic England}).

The Three Horseshoes is in Rushcliffe Borough Council's East Leake Conservation Area.

As at November 2017, the Three Horse Shoes freehold (NT252581) was held by the Red Star Pub Comany (WRII) Limited [Reg. No. SC202689].
