Union Tavern, Fortrose

You can be assured of a warm and friendly welcome at this lovely village pub, which is a firm favorite of many of the locals, with some "regulars" returning every year when visiting Fortrose on holiday.

Although no real ale, Cromarty's "Happy Chappy" from 5 miles away at Davidstown is available on keg and since its introduction has been very popular.

Other than crisps & nuts; tea, coffee and toasted cheese sandwiches can be made to order.

About 2000m (10 - 15 mins walk) from two camp sites:- on the East side of Chanonry Point, Rosemarkie Camping and Caravanning Club Site; on the West, Fortrose Caravan Park, so no excuses not to walk!

Some visitors have unfairly suggested a make-over is overdue, but the essence and charm of the place is that it IS dated! The single bar has changed little since the 60's with two-thirds height paneled walls of a distinctive 1950’s style, which is also on the bar counter front. The gantry has shelves held up by columns on a mirrored backing There is also a 1950s brick fireplace which has a coal burning stove. and the windows and inner doors are etched. Look out for the four coins set in the bar counter which hide the holes where that the wee water fountains came through for the "splash" in the whisky!

Union Tavern has sponsored the local Fortrose football team for many years, and is the coach starting point for horse racing in Perth and away Inverness / Ross County football games.

Note - local restrictions prevent drinks being taken outside.
