Historic Interest
Large timbered inn with parts dating from 16th cent. Reported at 17 High Street in 1881 & 19 in 1891. Historically listed as a commercial & family hotel & posting house. Good accomm. for cyclists in 1900. Also a Victorian brewery was located here. Assembly rooms are mentioned here in 1900, 1912 & 1922 directories.
