In 1998 Bass Taverns submitted plans to convert part of the grade II listed Royal London building into a bar. The plans were granted and alterations commenced with it opening to the public in January 1999 its hanging sign was a copy of the painting the ‘Scream’. The pub is now part of the Stonegate portfolio and it offers discounts to students from the nearby University.
