No real ale. Refurbished June 2023. Now a restaurant and upstairs bar, although its origins date from 1860. It was rebuilt in 1889 and its most famous landlord being Albert Dunkley, a former Cobbler's footballer who ran the pub from 1908 until his death in 1949, aged 71. He ran bird shows at the pub and was much mourned upon his passing, not only by his regulars, but the town in general.
