17th-century coaching inn in the centre of Alresford but there has been a hostelry on this site since 1550. Fullers have carried out a sympathetic renovation when they took over the pub and the interior now features pale wooden beams, bare brick walls, flagstones and log fires. The deceptively spacious interior has been divided into a number of smaller, more intimate areas. To the rear is a courtyard garden with plenty of seating. Four Fullers beers are always available including the current seasonal. Like the interior the menu is stylish and upmarket. Families are welcome, baby changing facilities and high chairs are provided. Board games, newspapers and WiFi are freely available. The pub would make a good destination on The Watercress line.
