Advertises as having a "Proper Chef, Proper Ale, Proper Craick" and named after Major-General Sir Henry Havelock hero of the Indian Rebellion. (Who famously died relieving the siege of Lucknow in 1857 and has a statue in Trafalgar Square). This popular terraced dining pub which backs onto the river South Tyne and has great views. Also has a comfortable front bar which features a couple of handpulls, board games and is full of various memorabilia; note the lovely illuminated Bass sign. The pub is on the South Tyne Cinema Circuit; screenings approximately monthly in summer.
