Very much a food venue with hotel accommodation, this pub dates from the mid 16th century when it was on the edge of the scrub and fen land. Until 1824 a light was hung outside to guide travellers across the fen. The name refers to a toll gate which stood here for many years.
One of the changing beers is a best bitter like Adnams/Black Sheep. The other tends to be a lighter type from Vocation/Tiny Rebel and are sourced from Small beer
