After a period of mixed fortunes under pubco ownership, the Nags has been "rescued" by private owners. It reopened in December 2013 after a major renovation and is now a smart pub combining dining and a provision for drinkers. It's a large place consisting of a big dining area, a small lounge, a snug and a public bar area. And it can get pretty busy, partly because there is a bowling green to the rear! There is a splendid view of nearby Pontesford/Earl's Hill from the front of the pub.
Pontesbury is on the route of walks number 1 and 14 in the Walking with Offa series. Was once a part of the large local estate of the Shrewsbury & Wem Brewery.
This Pub serves 3 changing beers and 0 regular beers.
Nag's Head, Pontesbury
Changing beers typically include: Hobsons (varies) , Salopian (varies) , Wye Valley - Butty Bach
