A popular pub in the large village of Pontesbury. Although the interior space has been made into one room, there are defined areas for the bar, lounge and games. The dartboard actually hangs on the second oldest wall in the village (the pub and the adjoining garage offices are Grade 2 listed buildings).
Appeared in an early edition of the Good Beer Guide in 1976. Starting point for walk number 1 of the Walking with Offa series, and is also close to the route of walk number 14. Was once a part of the large local estate of the Shrewsbury & Wem Brewery.
