Hotel style
An older inn stood on this site until lost in the Great Fire of Biggleswade in 1785. It was rebuilt as a coaching inn and opened in 1793 and operated as a large hotel until Sep 2013, when it closed for 4 years. It was bought by J D Wetherspoons chain and re-opened in August 2017 as a nine bedroom hotel style outlet. There is a large new extension at the rear and the bar has moved right to the back of the pub. There are three distinct seating areas, plus one alcove - all open plan. A large JWD food menu plus pizzas seems popular and at the bar are up to 12 handpumps with a variety of regular and guest ales. There is a large outside patio area with ample seating. Opening times shown are for sale of alcohol.
