A traditional pub overlooking the Green and war memorial at the centre of the village. A large modernised opened-out L-shaped room with a raised area at the rear. Darts and table skittles are played. It has a small enclosed patio-courtyard; and a larger garden at the back with kids' play equipment. The main bus stops to Leicester and Loughborough are right outside.

Judging for the competition takes around a year, starting with individual nominations from CAMRA members and tasting panel nominations, leading to a series of rigorous regional heats adhering to a strict blind tasting policy.
